Commander II
The
Commander II
is a compact, proven, rugged data
logging device designed to be mounted in racing vehicles or used
with engine dyno's.
The
Commander II
available with anywhere from 3 to
38 channels, and with memory options which include internal memory
(with serial transfer to PC) and removable memory cards for instant
download.
Complete systems
including all sensors and cables are available from CDS, custom
tailored and built to your exact needs.
Key Features
12 Bit (.02%) Resolution:
- 4 times more accurate
than competing 10 bit systems
- Easily measure very small
differences from run to run
Commander II
Models Are Upgradeable
- Add channels, memory, or
options Any Time
- Commander II is Expandable,
Not Expendable
Flexible Configuration Puts You
In Control
- User
definable recording mode, including channels to sample, recording rate,
resolution, and engineering scaling units for each channel. Recording modes
are saved for future re-use.
-
Multiple simultaneous sample rates enable maximization of recording time for
a given memory size.
Same State-Of-The-Art Software
For All Systems
-
Unlike other systems, all CDS systems use the same user interface,
simplifying your learning curve when advancing up the racing ladder.
Removable Memory Card Option:
Eliminate download
time
- Eliminate necessity for
connecting a cable to the vehicle
- Enable easy data transfer to
multiple PCs
PC Requirements & Recommendations

98 SE, 2000, or XP, 1024x768 (XGA) graphics recommended, 32 MB or more RAM
recommended.
- Pentium II, III, IV,
Celeron, or higher recommended.
- Type II or III PCMCIA slot
required for memory card option
- Compatible RS232 COM port
for communication
- Any Windows compatible
printer (for hard copy)

Operation
Circle Track &
Road Race Operation

- Trigger switch starts the
recording in manual mode. If AUTORECORD is on, then recording starts
when the car reaches a user definable speed (in MPH or KPH).
- Each time the car passes the
photo beacon, the lap time is recorded and saved. Lap time is also displayed
to the driver with the optional driver’s display.
- Data is retrieved via
removal of the memory card or connection to a PC using the download cable.
Drag Race
Operation

-
Trigger switch starts the recording. Auto Launch
Detect marks the data at the start of the run by detecting the first
movement of the driveshaft. This
enables Track Master 2000 software to overlay runs with the exact
same reference, making comparisons from run to run easy.
- Data
is retrieved via removal of the memory card or connection to a PC using the
download cable.
Dyno Operation
-
Commander
II
transmits data to Command-View software running on PC.
Software Run Triggers automatically separate the dyno run from the
warmup and cooldown data. This enables
Track Master software to overlay runs with the exact same reference,
making comparisons from run to run easy.
- Auto
update
in Track
Master automatically plots your run as soon as it is finished.

ECU Interface
The ECU interface
enables the Commander II
or the SSI
to capture and read data from the serial data stream of engine management
systems or ECU's. Several of the popular management systems are currently
supported, with more to come.
Below is a table showing
which parameters can be read from the different systems.
