Shock Shop  proudly represents Bill Mitchell's RACING BY THE NUMBERS programs.  They are intended for engineers, experienced crew members, as well as newcomers to the sport. Over the last eighteen years the programs have been successfully used by Formula One, Indy Car, Formula Atlantic, Winston Cup, SCCA club racers, short track oval, autocross and Formula SAE teams. Users have included professional engineers and design teams as well as racers new to computers. Major auto manufacturers in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa also use the programs.

WinGeo3 4.0
Suspension Geometry with Force-Based Roll Centers  is a complete three-dimensional suspension kinematic program. It Provides analysis of Double A-Arm, MacPherson Strut, Five-Link independent, and assorted solid rear-axle suspensions.  It includes design capability that permits the user to create a suspension with the feature desired. The Build and Fixture features allow the user to manipulate existing parts to create a suspension with desired characteristics. It also provides report preparation tools.  It can compare two or more suspensions as the user manipulates the chassis in ride height, body roll and steering input. The user can also specify suspension travel and/or steer result and calculate the inputs providing that result. Version 3.06 now includes force based analysis for $495.

The Premier / Data version incorporates tire squash as a result of computed load and  track data and computes the suspension parameters for any point on the track. The program can also analyze front and rear suspensions at the same time. The price for the Premier / Data version is $1,895.

The Gear Calculator program computes and displays information to assist in gear selection. Input consists of gear ratios (either by tooth count or ratio), rear end ratio (either by tooth count or ratio), spur gears (if any), tire size (either diameter or circumference), and RPM shift point. With this data the program computes and plots the relationship between RPM and MPH as well as the RPM drop between gears. The program also produces a standard gear chart of MPH vs. RPM. This plot shows and displays the maximum MPH in each gear (at shift point) as well as the RPM drop between gears. The regular version includes full gearing analysis and a bare inventory routine for $195. The advanced version adds acceleration capability and advanced analysis incorporating torque-induced tire slip for $395 .

Race Car Simulator is designed to teach the basics of vehicle dynamics. The program uses the basic equations of vehicle dynamics and computer graphics to illustrate the effect of chassis changes on vehicle handling. The program not only demonstrates what chassis changes will cause understeer or oversteer, but shows why the changes occur. This learning promotes greater understanding of vehicle dynamics and a sounder knowledge of car set-up. This program uses basic formulas of vehicle dynamics pertaining to load transfer to demonstrate the effect of chassis changes on the handling characteristics of a car. The program uses actual values and proper equations as much as possible, but limits on vehicle data (particularly tire data) mean that this program is not a total and complete vehicle simulation. The program teaches vehicle dynamics, explaining the effect of a spring or bar change as well as WHY..  I spent several years creating, revising and updating a similar but less rigorous routine.  I used it extensively.  Now I use the Race Car Simulator and anyone else can purchase it for only  $109.95!
